Terrorists can blow up buildings, but Premier like Gordon Cambell Can Destroy A Wonderful Province Like British Columbia!! (Deepak Sarkar, 01/18/2002)
I had no idea
before moving to British Columbia that people can be so friendly, cordial,
rational and welcoming giving one a
feeling of home irrespective of one’s race, culture, origin and religion. The idea, ‘it takes a village’, was
implemented so nicely with prudent Government programs in coordination with
voluntary community services.
It is true
that British Columbia didn’t have a economy like Ontario or Alberta. It is also true that British Columbia had a
sustainable economy with budget surplus despite false claims by Hon. Premier
Gordon Campbell to support his irresponsible tax cuts. British Columbia had the best medical
benefits and most affordable education system in the country.
It is amazing
that Premier like Gordon Campbell still believes in the tax cuts for the rich
at the cost of sufferings of the poor, disable, student and general health of
the entire province. The trickle down
effect of the tax cut doesn’t work in this global economy.
Sadly, this
Premier won the election promising everything best for the British
Colombians. In reality, his actions are
all bad medicine for every British Colombians
including
students, teachers, judges, police, seniors, disables, even blinds. Mr. Campbell is closing all funding for arts,
culture and support for the voluntary community programs.
As Mr.
Campbell gets kudos from his campaign contributors the very people of British
Columbia are suffering from job losses, cuts in medical services and will be
suffering in the long run from deteriorated health, education, transportation,
environment, public safety and overall moral values.
This is a recession
when Government is supposed to help people in need and stimulate the economy
with stimulus package to retain/increase consumer confidence and spending.
Premier
Campbell, there is no credit in giving away public money as imprudent tax cuts!
The credit goes to a leader who can use that money wisely for general welfare
of all the people. A few dollars do not
mean much to someone but, combined, a
few million can make a real difference providing hope and dignity to 6%
unfortunate citizens who are victims of the legalized feudal economy and
associated stock market..
